Quick answers to common questions about CostBeacon.
Does CostBeacon modify my Azure resources?
No. CostBeacon only requires Reader access to your Azure subscriptions. We analyze your resources and costs but never modify, create, or delete anything in your environment unless you explicitly enable and authorize automation features.
What data does CostBeacon access?
CostBeacon accesses Azure resource metadata (names, types, configurations), cost and billing data, usage metrics (CPU, memory, network), and Azure Advisor recommendations. We do not access application data, storage contents, database records, or any customer-hosted data.
How are savings estimated?
Savings estimates are calculated based on your actual cost data and resource utilization patterns. For example, if a VM uses 10% CPU on average, we estimate savings based on the cost difference between the current SKU and a right-sized alternative. Estimates are conservative and include an explanation of the calculation methodology.
Can I connect multiple Azure subscriptions?
Yes. The number of subscriptions depends on your plan tier: Free (1), Starter (3), Pro (5), Business and Enterprise (unlimited). Each subscription requires a connection with appropriate Reader access.
Is my data secure?
Yes. CostBeacon uses encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Authentication is handled through Microsoft Entra ID with OAuth 2.0. Secrets are stored in Azure Key Vault. We do not sell or share your data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How often are scans run?
By default, cost imports run every 12 hours and inventory scans run every 6 hours. You can customize scan frequencies from the Scan Jobs page. Recommendation analysis runs daily.
Can I use CostBeacon with AWS or Google Cloud?
CostBeacon currently supports Microsoft Azure. Support for AWS and Google Cloud is on our roadmap. Contact us if you're interested in multi-cloud support.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings, or by contacting support@costbeacon.cloud. You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period.
Do you offer a free trial of paid features?
The Free tier is available indefinitely with no credit card required. If you'd like to evaluate Pro or Business features before committing, contact us and we can arrange a trial period.
